Recycling management: from waste to energy resource

Waste can be a valuable raw material for a sustainable energy supply. In food production, waste is produced that is used in an economically and ecologically worthwhile manner and can thus improve the CO₂ footprint of the entire energy-intensive value chain.

Along the entire chain from agricultural production, through cleaning and initial processing, transport and packaging to recycling in households, biogas can bridge the economic gap between waste generation and the demand for energy.

Combined heat and power plants and biomethane plants are the key technologies for this.
