Project name/location: Biomethane plant Rhede, Germany
Type: Biomethane plant for processing 1850 m³/h of biogas
Commissioning: 2024
Design: ETW biomethane plant based on the principle of pressure swing adsorption and ETW CO₂ liquefaction
The biomethane plant in Rhede produces high-purity biomethane with a methane content of more than 99.5%. This highly concentrated biomethane is required for the downstream LNG plant to ensure the quality needed for use as liquefied natural gas.
Another feature of the plant is its future adaptability for producing biomethane with a methane content of over 96% for injection into the local gas grid. This flexibility ensures sustainable integration into the energy supply and supports the increased use of renewable energy sources.
An additional element of the plant is the treatment of recycled gas from the LNG plant, as well as the liquefaction of CO₂. The CO₂ is produced in food-grade quality according to the strict EIGA 70/17 standards, ensuring high purity and safety.
