BIOMETHANE PLANT ASCHHOFEN

Project name/location: Biomethane plant Aschhofen, Germany

Type: Biomethane plant for processing 2060 m³/h of biogas

Commissioning: 2025

Design: ETW biomethane plant based on pressure swing adsorption and ETW CO₂ liquefaction

Producing biomethane with a methane purity of over 99.5% CH₄ poses a particular challenge, especially with regard to integration into a downstream LNG plant. For the successful operation of these systems, it is crucial that the biomethane meets the high standards required for injection into the natural gas grid as well as for the LNG plant.

Another important aspect is the treatment of recycled gas from the LNG plant. This gas must be efficiently processed to ensure stable and reliable production. Additionally, the liquefaction of CO₂ is a demanding task, particularly considering the strict quality requirements for liquid CO₂, which must meet food-grade standards in accordance with EIGA 70/17.

The plant operates at a capacity of 1850 m³/h, with a planned future increase to 2060 m³/h. This allows flexible adaptation to future demands while ensuring continuous improvement in the efficiency and performance of the entire system.
